Meet the Team
Meet our wonderful task force members!
Krystal Ruvalcaba

My name is Krystal Ruvalcaba, and I’m excited to be in my third year as PIE Chair. Being part of PIE has been a meaningful experience for me. I love the connections we’re able to build with SVVSD families and the strong, supportive community that grows from this work.
PIE offers valuable opportunities, resources, and moments that truly empower us all. I’m especially grateful for our dedicated partner and parent task forces, and the wonderful families who make this program what it is.
Mecca Delgado

My name is Meca Delgado and I work for Boulder County Healthy Youth Alliance. I am one of the originators of the PIE program that started in the fall of 2008. PIE is a program that was grown through collaboration, cultural respect, and equity. I am passionate about my work with PIE because it provides access to resources, information, education, and connections for SVVSD families. PIE is a Spanish-language-first program provided to parents, caregivers, and families in the language of their home and heart. This work helps me feel grounded in my cultural roots and my ancestors.
McKenzie LeTendre

My name is McKenzie LeTendre and I work for Boulder County Healthy Youth Alliance (HYA), where I have been for the past 4.5 years. The mission of the HYA is to ensure that all youth, parents, caregivers, and community members have the knowledge and skills to support youth in healthy, positive choices and behaviors, something I am very passionate about. I have been supporting the PIE program in a variety of ways since I started with HYA, and mostly offer ‘behind the scenes’ support. I love the sense of community and connection that the PIE program offers, and am lucky to be a part of such an incredible group of people.
Cecy Vazquez

Cecy was born and raised in Longmont. When she’s not serving with HYA, she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing at CU Denver. She has a passion for marketing and supporting her local community’s success! Cecy is now entering her third year of supporting PIE with their marketing and technology and is excited to continue helping families stay connected and informed.
Lilian Bucio

Lilian Bucio has over 30 years of experience in customer service and 18 years of library experience. My name is Alejandro Castro. I'm an electronics engineer and, most importantly, a husband and father of two boys and a girl. One of my children currently attends the St. Vrain District. I've lived in Longmont, Colorado, for eight years. This is my first year as a parent leader at PIE, and I'm thrilled to be part of this team and continue to learn, develop, and share with the community.
Karla Cardoza

Karla was born and raised in Durango, Mexico. She has three children and immigrated to the US 26 years ago. One of the barriers she faced in this country was the English language, not knowing how to drive, etc. With great effort, she decided to study English at FRCC and also graduate from high school in 2018 through the Open Door adult education program.
Karla enjoys dancing Zumba and hiking in the mountains, as this makes her reflect on how beautiful life is.
Several years ago, Karla decided to volunteer at her children's school, Rocky Mountain, and that's how she began to get closer to the Longmont community and learn about different organizations. That's how she came to PIE in 2023.
Ere Juarez

My name is Ere Juarez and I work for El Centro Amistad as an Emotional Wellness Companion and Family Specialist. I am Mexican and have lived in Longmont for 27 years. I have been involved in PIE as a participant and team member since 2008. As a community leader and representative of my community/culture. I like to participate and invite parents to have learning experiences, become informed and have tools to advocate for their children/students. PIE is the community, and the community is all of us.
Esmeralda Rosas
De Mendez

My name is Esmeralda Rosas De Mendez and I work for Front Range Community College. I am an Admission Representative working with adult learners at the Boulder County Campus. I have been in my position since November 2022. I am always looking for ways to give back to my community, which is why I am so excited to be a part of PIE. In my role at FRCC I assist prospective students in the enrollment process.
Maria Martinez

My name is Maria Martinez and I work for Front Range Community College. I am an admissions representative working with high school students on the Boulder County campus. I have been in my position since October 2023. Prior to working at Front Range Community College, I was a student at Front Range Community College and then transferred to Metropolitan State University of Denver. I come back to Front Range Community College because of the close-knit community, and to support students and their families in understanding the post-secondary education process.
Lupita Ramirez

My name is Lupita Ramirez- and I work for the Family Literacy Liaison for T1 Preschools at the SVVSD. I am originally from Oaxaca, Mexico.
I have worked for the SVVSD for 17 years, in which I have been a PK classroom teacher, literacy support k-5th grades, and a family liaison. I am very honored to work with our Latino community and support the early learning of their children. I look forward to being a part of the PIE group.
Vanessa Arritola

I am the Program Coordinator for Casa de la Esperanza Learning Center, an after-school program that offers support to youth in K-12th grade. Our program includes tutoring services, enrichment program, STEM/Robotics and assistance to families with various needs. The community also offers housing for farm workers. I have been with PIE for about 6 years. I enjoy meeting new families and helping youth in their education. My daughter attends Timberline and I am also an SVVSD alumni so PIE is very special to me.
Luis Chávez

My name is Luis Chavez and I came to Longmont in 1991, after moving from Mexico to Texas, and then on to Colorado. Shortly after I arrived in Colorado, I was offered a job as a Child’s Specialist Assistant in 1991 through a Substance Abuse Prevention Program at the Longmont Youth Center called “Familias de Base”.
